Let's be honest: Bali's traffic is part of the experience, and not the good part. The south — Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta and the roads between — gets genuinely congested, and knowing how it works saves you hours and a lot of frustration. Here's the practical picture on getting around, and where to put your scooter or car when you arrive.
The traffic, honestly
The tourist south is busy, and the narrow roads weren't built for the number of vehicles on them now. Peak crawl is generally around the morning and evening rush and before sunset, when everyone's heading to the beach at once. It flows better late morning and late at night. Distances that look tiny on a map can take far longer than you'd expect — always check live traffic before you set off.
Scooter vs car

A car is comfortable and dry but slow in jams and harder to park. For a day of sights, a hired car with a driver is inexpensive and removes all the parking and navigation stress — a popular choice for groups and families.

Getting it right
The real trick is timing. Avoid the pre-sunset rush if you're going any distance, build in buffer time, and use a maps app with live traffic. For a big night out, taking a ride app both ways beats hunting for parking and driving tired. And if you're staying somewhere central to where you'll spend most time, you'll simply drive less — worth thinking about when you book.
